The aim of this study was to explore the views and experiences
of nurses who had implemented single nurse dispensing and administration of controlled drugs (SNAD). Overall the nurses felt that SNAD benefited patients and families because it minimised interruptions and enabled them to respond more quickly to requests from patients. However, concerns were raised about competence in drug calculations and the impact of inexperience or tiredness.
